After moving to California, Schindler also discovered the work of Irving Gill, an architect who came from Chicago. Gill had built a series of cubic asymmetric homes, whitewashed walls and flat roofs, completely devoid of ornamentation, inspired by the old Spanish missions in the area. All these early influences, filtered through floating universe of Japan, They are easily noticeable in his first and perhaps most accomplished work: house built between 1921 and 1922 for he and his wife reside, along with his friends Clyde and Marian Chace, in the north of Kings Road, en West Hollywood.

RMSchindler's own description of the house:

Every room in the house represents a variation on the constructive architectural theme. This item corresponds to the main requirements for the protection of a tent: protected one back, an open front, a fireplace and a roof. Each room has a concrete wall at the rear and a front opening in the garden with sliding doors. The shape of the rooms and their relation to different levels patios and roof creates a new spatial concept between the interior and the garden.

An architect can preserve and mark an architecture for others, but when a house is proposed for the same, It is a great exercise of originality and not limited to architecture, perhaps the only limitation that may arise is economic but the rest is freedom. We can see that the home RMSchindler about breaking stereotypes of how to live with your own partner or your best friend, creating a house with complex relationships between living spaces.
